Quantum biology may entirely change how we think about the body

“…our understanding of biology is radically incomplete.”

- Clarice D. Aiello, from Singularity Hub

Let’s get microscopic

We generally live our lives in the macroscopic world - a material world visible to the naked eye. However, when we look below the surface, of each, well… surface…we find the incredible world of quantum mechanics. Or what I like to call, “the science of magic”.

Clarice D. Aiello, is a quantum engineer at the UCLA. She offers an incredibly new perspective on how quantum mechanics might integrate with biology, aka: quantum biology.

Why this matters?

Everything we know to be “real” is composed of tiny particles. Once at the particle level, these little guys actually defy the laws of classical physics and abide by a new set of laws called quantum mechanics.

Electrons, for example, can pop in and out of existence or become entangled (connected) with one another. During quantum entanglement, whatever happens to one electron instantly happens to the other.

Research shows that we can actually affect these tiny particles by leveraging quantum effects. For example, we might be able to use a cell phone to affect the electromagnetic field of your cells.

Whaaaaaaaa.

The opportunities are potentially endless and very exciting. The science of magic strikes again.
